Back in the day, coal mining may have had some negative effects on the environment. Yet many of the people who worked in the coal mining industry are now in jobs doing innovative things to negate those impacts.

Road Safety Week 2022 – What we do to keep our vehicles road safe

Between the 14th – 20th November is Road Safety Week. A campaign centred around raising awareness of how to use roads safety and ensuring we all use safe road worthy vehicles.

Severn Trent Services have a large fleet of vehicles, so it is of the upmost importance that we regularly check and maintain our vehicles to make sure they are road safe each day. We asked Senior Field Technician Phil Isaac, what daily checks we perform on company vehicles.

Tony Keeney is a water maintenance technician. He works for Oren Environmental, which is part of Severn Trent Services. On behalf of the Coal Authority, he manages the day-to-day operations at Dawdon mine water treatment plant in County Durham. A job he’s done for longer than 14 years.

An Interview with Nick Barsby, Chairman of the Legionella Control Association

Nick Barsby is a man who needs no introduction. As the Chair of the Legionella Control Association, it’s Nick’s job to oversee the single most influential organisation in the industry. Nick has been in the role since 2021, having been Vice Chair since 2017 and has enjoyed every challenging moment of it. We’re always better together – the Betterment programme

The Betterment Programme, run by Operations Manager Charlie Anderson, sees three areas of Severn Trent Services come together to increase our service offering to our customers.

It involves Oren Environmental, which is expanding its team to offer grounds maintenance services for our Ministry of Defence contract managed by our Water Services Contracts team. They’ll also deliver asset condition grading services – on the buildings and civil engineering side – to assist our Central Support Services team.
