Read about the Employability scheme at Severn Trent

Employability – It’s September, the summer holidays are over and it’s time for the children to go back to school. Oh and, yes, it’s also the time for us to welcome our new cohort of Employability students from Hereward College for their year-long internships at Severn Trent Centre.

For those of you who don’t know, Employability is an amazing scheme that Severn Trent have been running for six years now (yes, we even managed a truncated version during lockdown), in partnership with Hereward College. It gives students with special educational needs workplace internships, alongside a qualification, so that students can experience work, gain more confidence in the workplace and ultimately help them on the way to starting their career.

Elizabeth’s walk for Alzheimer’s

Last weekend one of Severn Trent Services’ employees, Elizabeth Parker took part in a 26-mile walk around Stonehenge to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, alongside her friend Jen. The charity – which is close to both their hearts – set them a target goal of raising £300. The two didn’t just hit the target but smashed it, raising a fantastic £1,200 between them.

Move over Tom Daley, we’ve got some new divers in town…

Tom Daley might have won Olympic Gold (and knitted quite the impressive dog jumper), but does he know how to fix a crack in a GRP wet well? Well the divers who visited one of our sites, for Severn Trent Services, this week definitely did.
