People in Severn Trent Services have begun using Waternet software – provided by RPS (a Tetra Tech company) – a leading provider of consulting and engineering services worldwide.
Waternet now replaces multiple legacy systems to capture, organise, and present critical water usage data from the thousands of assets that Severn Trent Services operates and maintains nationwide.
Severn Trent’s water specialist teams in Derby and Shelton customer contact centres recently celebrated a 25-year partnership with HomeServe.
Amongst them was Kate Lester, who’s managed the HomeServe contract on behalf of Severn Trent Services for over 12 years.
Kate said:
“I obviously wasn’t in this job 25 years ago! But I do remember the day we went live across the customer contact centres back in 2013. It was the first time Severn Trent started introducing HomeServe to customers when they rang about a billing or payment enquiry. Until then, direct marketing was used to mail customers about HomeServe's emergency assistance cover.”
Aqualytix, specialists in water treatment and Legionella control, has many customers in the education sector who rely on our expertise to educate them about water hygiene to keep their schools, colleges, and universities compliant and safe.

Recently, some of our Commercial Water Services team, who operate and maintain thousands of assets that provide water and wastewater services across the UK, teamed up with Bromford Housing to support a local in need of a garden refresh.
The Water Services Contracts (WSC) department is the largest in Severn Trent Services, a part of Severn Trent. It specialises in providing water and wastewater asset management services for private networks nationwide.
WSC has a team of over 180 highly engaged people, scoring 8.6/10 for engagement in an annual survey, which exceeds industry benchmarks. The department’s turnover rate is lower than the UK average, so employees tend to stay with the company, too.
Many employees have recommended Severn Trent Services to their relatives and partners as a great place to work. We spoke to those who’ve encouraged their friends and family to join, and this is what they had to say.
Aqualytix, a specialist in water treatment and Legionella control, is now in its second year of providing water hygiene services to County Hospital, located in Stafford, part of the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.
Since 2022, we’ve expanded our range of services to the hospital, reflecting the partnership’s success in keeping staff and patients safe from water hygiene risks, including Legionella bacteria associated with water systems.
With covering a such a diverse range of roles across the UK, we’re super lucky to work amongst families of all shapes and sizes. With today being Fathers Day we’d like to honor the dads who shape our lives.
It’s Water Saving Week 2024, an initiative hosted by Waterwise. This year, the focus is on highlighting the small changes everyone can make to have a big impact on water conservation.
Robin Phillips, Head of Sustainability at Severn Trent Services, says: “As part of our sustainability plan, we’re focussed on supporting our customers in reducing their environmental impact, which includes helping them save water. But as employees and householders ourselves, we also do what we can to conserve this precious resource during Water Saving Week and beyond!”
Jamie Seymour is from the Severn Trent Services engineering leadership team. He tells us about an initiative he’s worked on to assess projected carbon emissions associated with our work.
Last summer, Andrew Twigg, Head of Operations at Aqualytix – specialists in water treatment and Legionella control – returned to Harper Adams University. This was the same university where Andrew started his career in the water hygiene industry over 15 years ago.
