Birmingham 2022 is almost here and we’re delighted to reveal that our very own Lorraine Gough, Customer Planning Advisor in Severn Trent Services will be one of the Commonwealth Games Batonbearers.
Batonbearers are often selected for the inspirational work they do within their communities, and Birmingham resident Lorraine is no exception. Besides being a Severn Trent Services employee, she is chairwoman for a local blood bike charity. Lorraine says she’ll carry the Queen’s Baton with pride on Monday 25 July as it makes its way through West Bromwich on its final journey to Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.
The Queen’s Baton began its journey began its journey in London on 2nd June and has toured the commonwealth prior to arriving in the West Midlands, the home of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
But Lorraine isn’t our only link to Birmingham 2022. Severn Trent is the Games’ Official Nature and Carbon Neutral Supporter, and will help deliver the first ever carbon neutral games, as well as providing free water refill stations for the thousands of visitors.
The Commonwealth Games is just one of the ways Severn Trent is working to help communities and build a better future. And we’re always on the lookout for new talent to help us.
