The project background
One of our largest facility management customers alerted us to a temperature issue at one of the buildings they manage. Our team then surveyed the building and determined that the calorifiers currently on-site weren’t fit for purpose. They were causing temperature control issues across the site, which, if left, could encourage bacteria to grow in the water systems.
Therefore, the calorifiers needed to be replaced. However, due to their location, we needed to retrofit the connections to the calorifiers to ensure minimal pipework alterations on site. We also needed to add immersions alongside the primary heating loop.
To assist with this, we consulted McDonald Water Storage. They provided us with a bespoke turnkey solution, which included inlets and outlets for the immersion heaters.

The project delivery
Delivering this project required all hands on deck. On the day we needed to erect the calorifiers four stories up on the building’s roof, we faced challenging weather conditions. To ensure success, our team completed the Risk Assessment Method Statements with precision and care. This enabled our team and contractors to execute the plan flawlessly.
Following the installation, our operations team swiftly cleaned and chlorinated the domestic system, ensuring the customer was restored to a compliant and operational state, ready for reopening on Monday morning.
