Severn Trent Services, suppliers of water and wastewater services, and Thrive Mental Wellbeing are today announcing a collaborative partnership to support colleague mental wellbeing in the workplace. A Deloitte study – released in March 2022 – found that mental health had a £53-56 million cost to UK employers between 2021-2022ì.

The new partnership has grown from recent employee feedback to build further on a wellbeing hub Severn Trent Services set up during the pandemic to enable colleagues to reach out for support from an internal mental health first-aider.

Thrive Mental Wellbeing provides a range of support services, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, meditation sessions, goal-based activities and sign-posting links, all accessed via an intuitive free confidential and anonymous mobile application.

Thrive’s user-friendly, innovative and specialist screening tools impressed the Severn Trent Services team, particularly smart technology to identify opportunities for support by screening using clinically validated scales, enabling instant access to tools and for experts to reach out to the user should it be necessary.

Laura Harmer, Head of Planning, CI & Reporting at Severn Trent Services, commented on the partnership:

We’re thrilled to be introducing Thrive into our business. Thrive represents a step forward in our commitment to promoting the overall health and happiness of our employees. By providing accessible and interactive resources we are proactively addressing any challenges and pressures that our people face, whether that be that at work or in their personal lives.

“The most important thing for us is that this is an enhancement to the other tools we already offer, ensuring our people have a variety of options to support them both on a day-to-day basis, and also with their long-term wellbeing.”

Mehdi Salam, who developed the partnership at Thrive Mental Wellbeing, said:

It was clear from the outset that Severn Trent Services were committed to enhancing their wellbeing provisions for their teams and we're delighted that they've chosen Thrive to do so.

"It is vital for colleagues to feel confident that their information will be completely confidential and that they will have support for as long as needed. That is one of the primary goals of our services. With such varied roles within the business, the remote nature and easy access to our support will benefit the hundreds across the organisation. It was a joy to help to develop this partnership and to see such commitment and thought leadership from their team.”
